After more than 30 years in business, a longtime Loudonville favorite has officially closed its doors.
Genoa Importing announced on Facebook that rising costs and ongoing economic challenges forced the difficult decision to shut down, effective immediately. Farewell Message
In their farewell message, the owners said they wanted to close “on a positive note,” while still proud of what generations of owners, employees, vendors, and customers had built over the past three decades.
From the beginning, they made their mission clear: provide personalized service and high-quality products, while treating customers like family. And for many in the Capital Region, that’s exactly what Genoa became.

Former Employee Sums it Up Best
Former employee Ashley Germond summed it up best, describing Genoa as far more than a business, but a true family, built through long hours, sacrifices, and genuine care for the community. She praised owners Joe and Jason for pouring their heart and soul into the store, even as food costs soared and margins shrank, and reminded everyone just how vital small businesses are to our local economy.
“Shop local. Shop small,” she wrote. “Our communities depend on them.”
For countless families in Loudonville and beyond, Genoa Importing was part of their routine, their memories, and their community.
It will surely be missed.
