We all know the power of Country songs. Not just how they can take you on a journey through storytelling, but also the healing power those stories can have. In essence, that is what Operation Song is all about: giving military Veterans an outlet to tell and share their stories through song.

Operation Song Returns For A Special Performance & Songwriting Session

Operation Song is simply an amazing organization, honoring and saluting Veterans in a powerful and impactful way. The organization's mission is to "...empower veterans, active-duty military members, and their families to tell their stories through the process of songwriting. Those we serve need no musical or writing skills, only a willingness to share their stories and, with the help of professional songwriters, transform them into song."

Operation Song will bring some of Nashville's most talented songwriters back to the Capital Region this September to spend time writing songs with local Veterans to tell their powerful and personal stories through song.

Local Veterans will take part in a songwriters' round in September, and you will be able to see these special songs played live by the songwriters. A special performance will be held Saturday, September 19th, at 5 p.m. at The Empire State Aerosciences Museum in Glenville, and you can buy your tickets here. The songwriters will also tell the stories behind some of their biggest hits, and there will be a special performance by 2096 to wrap up the evening.

I have had the honor of attending this event the last few years, and I can tell you the songs and stories that emerge will only give you further appreciation of our local Veterans and for the innate talent of the songwriters who help them craft their songs. They create stories to song that we should all hear to understand and appreciate the sacrifices of our local Capital Region heroes.

Operation Song is brought to you by Coca-Cola of Albany.
