There is a brewery in Saratoga County that specializes in craft beer, but once it got a taste of another beverage that could be brewed, they hopped on board. This time they are putting their brewing expertise into coffee.

Common Roots Brewing is stirring things up with coffee. The South Glens Falls brewery, best known for its craft beer, is now selling its roasted coffee beans in six Market 32 stores across the area, including locations in Clifton Park, Saratoga Springs, Malta, and Queensbury.

It all started in 2023 when they bought a coffee roaster to make beans for their coffee-flavored beers. Since their event space sat mostly unused in the mornings, they decided to open the Bierhall Cafe, serving drip coffee and breakfast sandwiches. Before long, the cafe became a hit, and they added espresso drinks like lattes and cappuccinos to the menu.

According to the Albany Business Review, as the coffee side of the business grew, so did the demand. Their original roaster, which could only handle 200 pounds a week, wasn’t enough. They moved the roasting operation to a larger space in Glens Falls and upgraded to a new machine that triples their production.

Around the same time, Market 32 reached out about stocking their coffee in stores. Now, alongside their beer, Common Roots is making its mark in the coffee aisle. The Bierhall Cafe is open seven days a week, and they’re getting requests for more wholesale orders.

Even with all this growth, Common Roots is sticking to its roots by focusing on quality and sustainability. They’re not aiming to be everywhere, but they’re making sure every cup of coffee they brew is top-notch. It’s a natural next step for a company that’s all about bringing people together.
