Pumpkins Over 2,000 Pounds? See These Monsters in Saratoga

Fall in Saratoga usually means changing leaves, cooler temperatures, and pumpkin season. But we're not talking about the kind of pumpkins you’re carving up and placing on the front porch...unless you have a chainsaw and a front-end loader.

The 11th Annual Saratoga Giant Pumpkinfest returns to downtown Saratoga Springs on Saturday, September 26th, bringing some of the biggest pumpkins in the Northeast to the Spa City.

And when we say giant, we mean GIANT.

Last Year's Pumpkins Were Absolute Monsters

At the 2025 Saratoga Giant Pumpkinfest, the winning pumpkin tipped the scales at more than 2,200 pounds. Another topped 2,000 pounds, while several other massive gourds weighed well over 1,000 pounds.

Even the local growers brought some serious muscle. A pumpkin grown by Sheena Smith of Hadley weighed an incredible 1,198.5 pounds, making it the largest Saratoga County entry, according to sources.

What will growers bring to Saratoga this year?

Saratoga Giant PumpkinFest Returns September 26th

Growers from across the Northeast will haul their heavyweight pumpkins to the Saratoga Springs City Center Parking Garage, and then the fun starts.

The official weigh-off begins at 11 AM, and visitors can walk among the enormous pumpkins, watch them hit the scales, and take some pretty unbelievable photos.

The free, family-friendly event runs from 11 AM to 3 PM and will also feature live music from Mandolins Too, along with food and treats. The Saratoga Farmers Market will also be in full effect next door on High Rock Avenue that day.

Now the big question: Can somebody crack the 2,200-pound mark again in 2026?
