Major Horror Movie Production Moves To Rensselaer County

A major horror movie production has moved from Schenectady to downtown Troy, bringing cameras, crews, and some temporary traffic changes.

The film is currently using the working title “Bridgeport.” After shooting scenes in Schenectady from late July through early August, production crews are now expected to remain in Troy through the end of August.

There Are Parking & Traffic Restrictions

According to the Daily Gazette, the Downtown Troy Business Improvement District has shared maps outlining temporary street closures, parking restrictions, and traffic areas. These changes will give the production team enough space to accommodate its vehicles, equipment, and crew members safely.

The filmmakers thanked Troy residents and businesses for their patience while the production continues around the city.

Is This Movie Part of The Conjuring Series?

There is some mystery around the filming of this movie. Although “Bridgeport” is its current name, I follow a site called OLV that lists schedules of movie and TV shows filming in NY. They have confirmed that this is, in fact, “The Conjuring: First Communion.”

The popular Conjuring universe began with the original movie in 2013. It has since grown into one of the most successful horror franchises in history, earning billions of dollars at theaters around the world.

A casting call issued before filming began looked for actors who could portray people living in an 1890s town.
