Capital Region Basketball Moment Goes Viral for All the Right Reasons
A Moment No One Will Forget
A truly unforgettable moment unfolded last night during the Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Wolves vs. Johnstown Sir Bills varsity basketball game, and it had absolutely nothing to do with the final score.
Late in the game, Wolves player #22, Jackson Polidori, checked in, instantly becoming the crowd favorite. Fans erupted, cheering him on and hoping to see him score. With under two minutes left, according to fans in attendance, Jackson got a few great looks, but the basket just wouldn’t fall.

Standing Ovation for Jackson Polidori
Then, with about 20 seconds remaining and Johnstown holding a comfortable lead, Sir Bills player Karter Cox did something extraordinary. Instead of dribbling out the clock, Karter “mishandled” the ball, letting it roll right into Jackson’s hands. Jackson took it the other way and laid it in.
The gym exploded. Fans leaped to their feet. Teammates and opponents celebrated together. Some even wiped away tears. It was a moment far bigger than basketball.
After the game, Jackson’s parents shared that he has autism and simply loves being part of the team. Like any parents, they hoped he’d get his moment — and on this night, he did. To make it even more special, it was Jackson’s birthday.
A birthday basket. A standing ovation. A moment no one in that gym will ever forget.
