New Retro Arcade Bar Opens In Troy, New York
When I went to school at the University of Florida (Go Gators), there was one bar my friends and I were at every single weekend: Barcade.

The premise is simple: a bar within an arcade, taking the best of both worlds and creating something new. Since leaving Gainesville, I've prayed to find another Arcade Bar, and Troy has finally answered my prayers.

A Bright Idea
The concept for Troy's arcade bar didn't happen overnight, it's been a passion project of the two owners, Shawn Handyside and Christopher Young, since their time in college. Handyside recalls hosting parties at his college home, and keeping the garage open with old arcade cabinets. He said it was a hit.
So, in January of 2025, they began planning. Though their original venue fell through in September of that year, they were able to find a home in the former Trojan Hardware building. And thus, Troy Rewind was born!
Troy Rewind
On May 1st, Handyside and Young's dreams became a reality as they opened Troy rewind for business. Located at 96 Congress St in downtown Troy, the bar features arcade cabinets, modern and retro consoles, pinball machines, Japanese rhythm games, and of course, a fully stocked bar.
The bar wants to soon begin weekly events, like gaming tournaments, Guitar Hero karaoke, workshops, and more. A grand opening celebration is currently in the works, but the date is unknown.
Troy rewind is open Monday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday from 12 p.m. to 1 a.m., and Sunday from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.
