Every year that we pass by September 11th, I can't believe it - 18 years ago - something I'll never forget, and these local first responders want to make sure of it.
Nine local school districts will vote on increased security measures on Tuesday. When the votes are in and budgets are approved, it will affect the safety inside these schools.
One of our favorite organizations at WGNA is Blue Friday. Each year we raise money for the families of our fallen men and women in blue, those who made the ultimate sacrifice. One of those families last year, was that of Trooper Timothy Pratt.
While most of us wake up for our regular 9 to 5 jobs and head into the office for a day in front of a computer or otherwise, our men and women in blue are leading a dangerous every day. The average car stop could lead to a deathly ending. Every moment, every decision is a risky one that they're on the edge with anticipation for.
These kids broke the cute meter. First graders from St Thomas The Apostle School created a brand new theme song for our Blue Friday fundraiser on April 24th to help the families of fallen police officers. Wanna hear it? I knew you would!
Please join us as we lamely try to mix and serve drinks for a very worthy cause - the families of fallen police officers. And BTW, Blue Friday is only days away!
It's a tradition here at WGNA.– Blue Friday. We're doing it again in 2015. All the information is below in this beautiful new poster. You'll see them all over town very soon. We hope you'll support this amazing event
It's quickly become a WGNA tradition. It's been recognized year after year by the New York State Legislature. It's BLUE FRIDAY. This year we're announcing a new date for our fundraiser to raise money for the families of fallen police officers killed in the line of duty.
Wow! This is amazing. You know I have always appreciated the work that our law enforcement officers do. I know quite a few very good people who do that work for all the right reasons. It is a job like no other in that you really never know what sort of emergency or dangerous situation is right around the corner.
