New York State is stepping up to protect emergency service workers!

If you’ve heard me say it once, you’ve heard me say it a thousand times.  I can’t stress enough the respect I have for our police officers, fire fighters and emergency responders. So this news is exciting to hear.

New York State lawmakers are proposing a law to increase penalties for those who commit crimes against any emergency service worker. State lawmakers are calling it the Community Heroes Protection Act and the person accused of a crime against a service worker would face hate crime charges. Service workers include police officers, EMTs, and firefighters.

Why shouldn’t this be the case.  These men and women put their lives on the line for us every day!  They do a job most of us couldn’t do, I know I couldn't.  This bill comes at a time when we see an increase in police being targeted, even firefighters which is unacceptable.

There is no other law in the United States like the proposed Community Heroes Protection Act.  This is one new law I think all New Yorker's can support regardless of your politics!
