One of our favorite organizations at WGNA is Blue Friday. Each year we raise money for the families of our fallen men and women in blue, those who made the ultimate sacrifice. One of those families last year, was that of Trooper Timothy Pratt.

On Thursday, State Police Troop G held a ceremony to honor Trooper Timothy Pratt with the Trooper Timothy Pratt Memorial Bridge, according to the Times Union.

The Trooper Timothy Pratt Memorial Bridge is at exit 16 on the Northway, at mile marker 38.8. If you're unfamiliar with Trooper Pratt's story, he was hit by a car while helping a truck driver in front of the trooper barracks on Ballard Rd in Wilton. As the Times Union describes him, "He was an Air Force veteran who worked as a road patrol trooper for most of a career that began in 1987."

He protected us for many years, the least we could do is make sure he is memorialized and I think this is a beautiful way to continue his memory.
