For the 6th year in a row, a school district in Albany County has been ranked #1 in the annual "Schools Report" according to a business review.

The last few years weren't easy for our Upstate New York schools, and as area educators get set to enjoy a few months off during the summer, this comes as good news heading into that much-needed break.

In a message sent home to parents and also posted on their website, the administrative staff at the Bethlehem Central School District announced that they'd been recently ranked number #1 according to the Times Union's local business publication’s annual “Schools Report.”

“It feels good when you get to the end of a year like this one– when you were never quite sure what to expect next — to be able to celebrate this accomplishment,” said Superintendent Monroe in a statement on the school's website.

How did they achieve this honor?

According to the Bethlehem release, the Times Union ranked all 92 school districts in the Capital Region's 11 counties, using data from the New York State Education Department.  Bethlehem Central came out on top according to data that was tabulated from 2020-2021 school report cards.

Bethlehem administrators noted that "the Albany Business Review used the department’s School Report Cards for the 2020-21 school year to tabulate its rankings. Data includes test scores in grades 3-8, Regents test results, graduation rates, and the percentage of graduates with advanced Regents diplomas."

The Bethlehem Central School District is a public school district in New York State, serving approximately 4,500 students in the towns of Bethlehem and New Scotland in Albany County.  They have a staff of over 800 and a budget of $97 million according to sources.

Bethlehem Schools seem to be near or at the top of most lists of the best schools in the area.
