Fish Fry Restaurant Catches Quite the Honor

I'm always on the lookout for a good ol' fashioned fish fry, and I've passed this place countless times and feel foolish for never having stopped.  That must change this summer, and I'll hit up Gene's Fish Fry in Rensselaer County.

Gene's Fish Fry, located at 300 Troy Road in Rensselaer, has been serving deliciously fried fish, scallops, clams, fries, onion rings, milkshakes, and more since 1961.

Their prices are fair, portions are stacked, and it's the kind of family business you feel good supporting.

A recent Facebook Post by Rensselaer County showed local dignitaries and the staff at Gene's celebrating this historic honor.

Congratulations to everyone at Gene's Fish Fry, a landmark Rensselaer County business on US 4 near the border of East Greenbush and North Greenbush. After being nominated by State Senator Jake Ashby, Gene's is being added to the New York State Historic Business Preservation Registry.  Gene's has been a staple for many families in the county and has been part of the numerous changes on the road during its 65 years in business.
