“With a Heavy Heart”: Beloved Lake George Bar & Grill to Close Its Doors
End of an Era in Lake George
After serving locals, vacationers, and loyal regulars for more than 27 years, a popular family-owned bar and grill in the Adirondacks announced that it will officially close its doors after service on Sunday, September 21st.
Adam Casey, owner of the Full Moon Bar and Grill in Lake George, shared the difficult news on social media on Monday, writing:
“It comes with a heavy heart that The Full Moon will be closing Sunday night. It has been a journey that lasted over 27 years. The day-to-day work has become too overwhelming for me, and I believe it is time for a change. Catering and private parties will still be available. I would like to thank all of my employees and customers throughout the years. Your support has been incredible, and I hope it continues to carry forward.”
Once the announcement was made, many from the Capital Region, who had enjoyed dining and drinking there for years, expressed an outpouring of emotion.
Longtime patrons expressed how deeply they’ll miss the restaurant’s food, atmosphere, and the family-friendly staff.
Amy Goodrich shared on Facebook:
“This is very sad news. The Full Moon has been a go-to spot every week for my dad! His biggest decision was just to decide which night he was going to be there. We all love it there…the people, the food, the atmosphere! We will miss it very much. My dad more than anyone, for sure!”
While the iconic gathering place is closing its doors, Casey says The Full Moon spirit will live on through catering and private events.
Chris Burns echoed sentiments shared by many who have eaten there over the years, saying:
“The Full Moon has been a staple in the area for so many years. I’m sad to hear about the closing, but I’ll always remember the great times spent there.”
