Been a Rough Few Weeks Here in the 518

Two heartbreaking tragedies involving young children have left many of us searching for words. But if there's one thing this community continues to prove, it's that we show up for one another.

Whether it's searching for a missing child, offering prayers, or simply standing beside a grieving family, the Capital Region has an incredible way of coming together when it's needed most.

Complete strangers left work, canceled plans, walked neighborhoods, searched wooded areas, checked ponds, shared flyers, and prayed for the safe return of 7-year-old Harbe Nagi.

Public Gathering Today

Sadly, the search ended in heartbreak, but the incredible outpouring of compassion has continued.

According to reports from Newschannel 13, Harbe's family has announced that the community is welcome to attend a public visitation today (Wednesday) from 2 PM to 5 PM at Al-Hidayah Center, 293 Troy-Schenectady Road in Latham.

The family said the gathering is intended not only for friends and loved ones, but also for community members who wish to pay their respects, including those who may not be familiar with their funeral traditions.

Formal Funeral Service Thursday

A formal funeral service will follow on Thursday, July 2nd, beginning at 1 PM, also at the Al-Hidayah Center.

In a statement, Harbe's uncle thanked the community for its overwhelming support, saying the family's strength has come from the "outpouring of love, prayers, and condolences" they've received.

These services offer another opportunity for that same community to stand beside a grieving family and remind them they are not facing this loss alone.
