On the night of October 3rd, 2025, a car ran into a horse-drawn buggy in Herkimer County, mildly injuring one of the passengers.

The driver was given multiple tickets, and eventually went on their way. This was such a strange occurrence, you'd figure it was one-of-a-kind, but history certainly loves to repeat itself.

Second Horse and Buggy Accident

Tragedy struck again on Sunday, October 26th. At around 2:34 p.m., first responders were called to Six Corners Road in Barrington to look into a wreck. The wreck itself involved a car and a horse and buggy.

Allegedly, the driver of the car was heading southbound when she hit the carriage from behind. The impact ejected all three passengers on the buggy, and led to considerable damage for both vehicles.

The Aftermath

As stated earlier, the impact of the crash ejected the three passengers on the buggy, two parents and one young child. All three were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital via airlift with serious injuries. The horse pulling the carriage survived with severe injuries, and had to be euthanized.

The woman who caused the crash was with a young child at the time. Though her car received a decent amount of damage, both passengers were unharmed. The driver was, however, cited for following the buggy too close. Though this seems to be the end of it, the crash is still being investigated, and more charges may come up if the crash was deemed negligent. All that to say, if you're driving around upstate, stay cautious of more than just cars on the road.

Canadian Pacific Holiday Train Rolls Through The Capital Region For a Great Cause

It had been three years since the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train rolled through the Capital Region. It made three stops; Mechanicville, Saratoga Springs, and Fort Edward. The first was Mechanicville on a rainy Sunday night. This is where I enjoyed the festive holiday train. They are traveling across the country to 106 stops. At each stop, they play live music and collect donations for the local food banks. Country Artist Lindsay Ell was the musical entertainment and she was awesome. The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train also presented the Mechanicville Community Center with a check for $3500 to help restock the food bank. Even though the weather wasn't ideal, a couple of hundred families joined the fun.
