The Most Inviting Towns in Upstate New York

Recently, World Atlas released their list of the the Seven Most Inviting Towns in Upstate New York. There were quite a few great picks, from Ellicottville's ski resorts to Hamilton's academic and historic streets.

The towns involved are all quaint, quiet, homey towns, and have communities you'd love to jump into. The towns listed are:

  • Saranac Lake, NY

  • Ellicottville, NY

  • Cazenovia, NY

  • Hamilton, NY

  • Fairport, NY

  • Canandaigua, NY

You might notice, we're one short. That's because the last on the list is a Capital Region favorite.

The Capital Region's Most Inviting

The last name on the list: Lake George, NY. There's more than a few reasons this made the list. First and foremost, the people there are incredibly nice. It's a popular tourist destination, so they've gotten really good at being nice to outsiders, and giving directions to wherever you want to go.

There's a ton to do if you decide to take a trip up there. Obviously, there's Lake George, the lake the town got its name from, but you can also hike Prospect Mountain or Shelving Rock Falls, or simply take a quiet day at the Fort William Henry Museum.

Around the area, there's public beaches you can dip your toes into, or campsites to wind down and enjoy your days surrounded by the prettiest nature that America has to offer.
