Lake George is getting ready for one of its most loved traditions as the 27th annual Lite Up the Village celebration returns to the heart of town.

On Saturday, November 29th, the downtown area along Canada Street, Beach Road, Shepard Park, and the Festival Commons will come alive with holiday lights, music, and community spirit. Many people consider it the true start of the holiday season in the Adirondacks.

The fun begins at 3 pm when the Village turns into a lively block party. Visitors can stroll along Canada Street and enjoy live music, carriage rides, bounce houses, and vendors. Families will find plenty to do well before the official lighting moment. As the sun goes down, the crowd starts to gather, and there is a real sense of anticipation.

At 6:25 pm, the switch is flipped, and the entire Village lights up at once. More than 7,000 lights glow across the streets and park areas, creating a festive scene that completely transforms downtown. Five minutes later, the sky brightens again as fireworks burst over the lake and reflect on the water. It adds a picture-perfect touch to the evening.

The celebration continues at 6:40 pm with the Parade of Holiday Lights. Glowing fire trucks, decorated floats, and familiar favorites like Santa and Mrs Claus make their way down Canada Street toward the Lake George Volunteer Fire House. Many people linger afterward for refreshments, photos with Santa, and a chance to enjoy the glow of the lights. It is easy to see why this event has been a local favorite since it began in 1998.
