Missing Florida Toddler Found Safe in Upstate New York
Toddler Missing Since January
A case that began hundreds of miles away has a surprising ending here in Upstate New York, and people are asking how something like this could happen, and go on for months...
According to CBS 6 Albany, a 2-year-old child who had been reported missing out of Florida since January has been found safe in Hudson.
Police say the child had been taken by a parent without legal authorization, sparking a nationwide search that eventually led investigators to Columbia County, according to the report.
Toddler Found Safe and Alive
Authorities say the child was located on March 23rd after multiple welfare checks were conducted in the area. Thankfully, the toddler was found alive and is now safe.
Following the discovery, the child was placed in the care of the Columbia County Department of Social Services before being returned to Florida.
Officials say a family member is now facing charges, including obstructing governmental administration, in connection with the case.

Nationwide Investigation
According to sources, the search was initiated by ChildNet, Inc., a care provider for Florida’s Department of Children and Families, which launched a nationwide investigation.
That effort ultimately led authorities to believe the child and parent were in Hudson. The child had been reported missing on January 21, 2026.
While many details remain limited, the outcome could have been far worse.
It’s a reminder of how quickly situations like this can escalate—and how coordination between agencies across state lines can make all the difference in bringing a child home safely.
