Field of Horrors Vows to Rebuild After Devastating Fire

For many in the Capital Region, a trip to Field of Horrors has become a Halloween tradition. Unfortunately, one of the area's most popular seasonal attractions suffered a devastating setback this week after a massive fire tore through part of the property.

According to fire officials, crews were called to Field of Horrors/Capital Combat Zone at 100 Farrell Road in Brunswick on Monday afternoon around 2 PM.

When firefighters arrived, according to the report, they found the haunted house fully engulfed in flames, with heavy black smoke pouring from the approximately 150-foot-long building.

Crews Got There About 15 Mins After the Blaze Started

Brunswick Fire Chief Dean Rysedorph told News 10 ABC that crews believe the fire had been burning for roughly 10 to 15 minutes before they arrived.

About a dozen fire departments responded, battling extreme heat, a difficult metal roof, and water supply challenges while working to contain the blaze. They used a nearby hydrant to refill tanker trucks throughout the afternoon.

Thankfully, no injuries were reported. Chief Rysedorph said one person had been working inside the attraction before the fire, and investigators believe something may have gone wrong during that work. The exact cause remains under investigation.

Field of Horrors Shares Message on Social Media

Later Monday, Field of Horrors shared an emotional message on social media, thanking the more than 20 fire, EMS, law enforcement, and emergency agencies that responded.

"This fire may have damaged our attraction, but it hasn't taken away the passion behind it," the owners wrote. "We'll rebuild, overcome these challenges, and do everything we can to be ready to welcome you back for haunt season."
