
Plow Truck Dispute Escalates After Shots Fired in Johnstown
Plow Truck Driver Caught in the Middle of a Dispute
A late-night argument in Fulton County took a dangerous turn over the weekend, leading to the arrest of a Johnstown man after shots were reportedly fired during a dispute involving a plow truck operator.
According to New York State Police, troopers responded to a residence on State Route 309 in Johnstown around 9:37 p.m. on Saturday, January 25th, following reports of gunfire.
Man Fired Shots at Polow Truck Driver
Investigators determined that 68-year-old Daniel R. Hoose of Johnstown was involved in a verbal dispute with the operator of a privately owned plow truck, though it's unclear what led to it.
During the argument, police say Hoose allegedly fired multiple rounds from a long gun out of a second-story window of the residence. Thankfully, no one was injured, and no property damage was reported.

Troopers seized the firearm used in the incident, and Hoose was taken into custody and transported to the State Police in Mayfield for processing.
Hoose Faces Various Charges
He was charged with:
- Menacing in the 2nd Degree
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree
- Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd Degree
Hoose was later issued an appearance ticket and released. He is scheduled to appear in Johnstown Town Court on February 11, 2026.
The incident comes after a weekend that saw heavy snowfall across much of the Capital Region, keeping plow truck operators busy around the clock. State Police did not release additional details about what sparked the initial dispute.
