Search Continues for Missing 7-Year-Old Boy in Menands

UPDATE: Police have updated the description of the missing 7-year-old boy from Menands. His family says he wandered off while visiting a friend with his mother.

Community, First Responders Working Through the Night to Bring Him Home

The search continues this morning for 7-year-old Aharib Nagi, who was reported missing Sunday afternoon in the Village of Menands, and the community has responded in an incredible way.

According to the Albany County Sheriff's Office, Aharib was last seen around 4:20 p.m. Sunday on Park Drive in Menands.

What He Looks Like and What He Was Last Wearing

He is described as being 7 years old, 4-foot-10, approximately 70 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Authorities say Aharib has autism, is non-verbal, and may be in need of medical attention. He was last seen wearing a light-colored T-shirt, dark pants, and no shoes.

Volunteers Out Looking for Young Boy

As the hours passed Sunday night, the neighborhood filled with people determined to help. NewsChannel 13's Kumi Tucker described seeing dozens of volunteers slowly driving through nearby streets, while others walked with flashlights searching yards and neighborhoods. The sound of a helicopter echoed overhead as first responders continued their efforts.

The Menands Fire Department has asked volunteers to stay out of the wooded area near Park Drive and Route 377, where trained crews are using specialized resources, including K-9 teams and drones, to conduct a thorough search.

Our thoughts are with Aharib's family and everyone working tirelessly to bring him home safely.
