Our Hearts Are With Mechanicville Following This Tragic Loss

Unthinkable Tragedy

Like so many people across the Capital Region, we've been thinking about Mechanicville since learning of the heartbreaking tragedy that unfolded this week.

6 people found dead, and we're learning that multiple children were involved.

While the investigation continues and many questions remain unanswered, one thing we do know is this: Mechanicville is a special place.

Small City, Big on Heart

Officially, it's the smallest city in New York State, covering less than one square mile and home to roughly 5,000 residents. But anyone who has spent time there knows that what Mechanicville lacks in size, it more than makes up for in heart.

For many residents, some of life's simplest and best moments happen in places like Tallmadge Park, over breakfast at The Ugly Rooster, or while sharing a meal at Bubble's. They're the kinds of places where familiar faces become friends and neighbors become family.

Chrissy's Hometown

It's also a place that means a great deal to our show. Chrissy grew up in Mechanicville and lives there now.  Over the years, we've met countless listeners from the city who embody the kindness, resilience, and sense of community that make it unique.

Today, our thoughts are with the families directly affected, the neighbors trying to make sense of it all, the first responders, and everyone throughout Mechanicville who is grieving.

But if history is any indication, this close-knit city will do what it has always done: come together, support one another, and find strength in community.
