The Capital Region always rallies for our kids. This time, there is a very important program that needs help. Support the special food truck event today to help ensure these kids get the beds they deserve.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) in Mechanicville is a volunteer-led nonprofit that builds and delivers beds to local children who don’t have a safe or comfortable place to sleep. Their mission is simple and powerful: no kid sleeps on the floor in our town.

Through donated materials and community support, SHP organizes “build days” where volunteers come together to create twin-sized beds, complete with mattresses, pillows, and bedding.

These beds are then delivered to children aged 3 to 17 who sleep on couches, blankets, or the floor. SHP believes a bed is more than furniture, it’s a foundation for better rest, health, and success in school.

To support their efforts, SHP and local churches are hosting Family Food Truck Friday on TODAY (Friday, May 30th), from 4 to 8 PM at Tallmadge Park in Mechanicville. It’s a fun-filled community event with food trucks, face painting, live music, magic, and activities for all ages.

The event is a fundraiser for the Four Church Bed Build coming this August. This build is a collaboration between St. Luke's On The Hill, Commitment Community Church – Mechanicville Campus, All Saints on the Hudson, and Mechanicville United Methodist Church. Together, they’re working to make sure no child in the community has to sleep on the floor.

Come enjoy good food, great company, and a chance to support a cause that helps local kids rest easier.
