I like when there are innovative ways and great ideas that give people in the Capital Region a safe way to go out and enjoy a weekend night out. CDTA is doing just that. After Lyft and Uber announced that service will begin on June 29th, CDTA has stepped up the game and is now offering free shuttle service. In an effort to curb drinking and driving, and to help bring more business to restaurants and bars in Albany, CDTA is unveiling "The Downtowner".

The free service will give residents a safe and convenient ride to bars and restaurants in the areas of Lark Street, downtown and the Warehouse district. It will serve these three Albany areas and also be helpful for people who don't have cars and work or live downtown.

The Downtowner service will begin this Thursday (June 8th) and run through Labor Day. Good news for Schenectady residents, a similar service is planned for downtown Schenectady too.
