Crossgates Mall Proposal Will Melt More Than Your Heart
Surrounded by the floral scents and tropical aromas of an oasis of wonderful candles, a local couple melted more than hearts when they got engaged inside Crossgates Mall Memorial Day Weekend at - you guessed it - a Yankee Candle.
According to a story by our friend Kristi from the Times Union, Caylan Nugent, a nurse, said "Yes" when Shaquille Collins, the man she'd been dating for two years, asked her to marry him.
According to the story as it was told to the TU, the proposal inside the Yankee Candle wasn't planned and it all came together somewhat spontaneously.
After they had some dinner at a restauarant nearby to celebrate their dating anniversary, the Guilderland couple decided to do a little shopping at the mall before they headed home. That's when, according to the Times Union, Collins popped over to a jewelry store to buy the ring. But when would the young man who works at Albany Medical Center "pop" the question?
While Caylan was visiting some former colleagues of hers at Yankee Candle, “I snuck up to Kay Jewelers and bought the ring,” he told the Times Union.
A short time later, Collins made his way over to his sweetheart with ring in hand, hoping to put the sparkiling diamond on hers.
“I met her at Yankee Candle and (proposed) right then and there,” he told the TU. “There wasn’t really much planning to it. I knew it was something that I wanted to do, so I did it.”
