This is supposed to be the worst tick season on record and now New York state is taking different measures to make sure they do everything possible to try and control it.

We already know that ticks are out in full force this season. Now the CDC has made me not want to eat muffins ever again because of it.

Finally the nice weather is here, but make sure you are taking necessary precautions because ticks are also out in full force.

When we think of the threat of ticks, we usually think of the summer months. Well local researchers say that because of the mild beginning to this month, this is the height of the tick season.

In July, a Saratoga County man died after he was infected by the Powassan virus carried by an infected tick. Since then, the Health Department had expanded its tick collection and testing effort. Now the results are in and the findings are concerning.

After 2 reported cases in Saratoga County last month, 3 more cases of the potentially fatal tick-borne virus have been reported.

Ticks have been a rising problem in the Capital Region and so far my only worry has been the threat of Lyme Disease, well, until I learned about the Lone Star tick.

We are at the end of Lyme Disease Awareness Month, and in recognition, officials from The New York State Health Department and Saratoga County health officials conducted what they’re calling “tick sweeps”.

As if high cholesterol, heart disease and the potential for Mad Cow aren’t bad enough, now red meat lovers have another threat to contend with — an allergic reaction to beef potentially triggered by a bite from the common lone star tick.

I couldn't believe it.  We let the little guy out, he squats in the woods for a moment and does his thing.  That's his entire experience with "the wild".  Otherwise he walks on the street.  How did he get lime disease?  Well, I guess he's not alone.
