Can You Come Up with a Good One?

Stewart’s Shops is once again asking the most dangerous question you can pose to Upstate New Yorkers: What should we name our next ice cream flavor?

According to Stewart’s, the new flavor is described as a decadent vanilla ice cream with a salted caramel swirl and cookie dough pieces, made with local milk and set to debut in shops this spring.

It joins a lineup that already includes more than 30 flavors, ranging from classics to creative favorites like Peanut Butter Pandemonium, Mint Cookie Crumble, and pie-inspired seasonal offerings.

The prompt was simple: “What are some iconic names you would give this one?”

No Shortage of Possibilities; Some Tastier than Others

The responses on Stewart's Facebook page have been interesting, to say the least.

Fans leaned hard into salty wordplay with entries like “Doughn’t Be Salty,” “Salted Doughpamine Rush,” and “Salty Caradough Swirl.” Others went full dairy-themed with “Salty Heffer,” “A Very Salty Cow,” and “Mooooo-re Cookie Dough.”

I Loved "Troy Roads in February"

Naturally, local pride made its way into the mix. There were Hudson Valley-inspired suggestions like “Mahicookietuck,” a nod to the river’s original name, and one brutally honest Capital Region submission, and my favorite so far, “Troy Roads in February.” Salty, crumbled, and emotionally damaging.

A few ignored the assignment entirely and suggested totally different flavors, and, yes, one person tried to name it after themselves.  Not sure how that one is going to turn out.

No matter what Stewart’s ultimately chooses, one thing is clear: the ice cream will be sweet, the caramel will be salty, and they'll have no shortage of names (some better than others) to choose from!
