Lake effect snow has been pounding areas of Central and Upstate New York - see some snowfall totals nearing 3 feet in some areas!

And the crazy thing is, this snow is not ready to give up. Many areas could still see another foot and a half of further accumulation.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS), another 10 - 20 inches could still fall between now and Sunday evening in some areas as this lake-effect snow event keeps rolling into the weekend.

How Much Snow Did We Get In Central & Upstate New York?

Thanks to NWS spotters, we are getting regular updates from throughout the region. Some astronomical snowfall totals are coming in, with some nearing 3 feet in spots in the southwestern Adirondacks and western Mohawk Valley. Some snow even ventured into the western edge of the Captial Region but with more modest and manageable snowfall totals.

The amazing thing about this type of storm is the drastic difference in accumulation totals from one area to the next.

2025 is officially underway and the New Year kicked off with a bang when it comes to snow! Lake effect snow has been falling across Central and Upstate New York with the heaviest band producing some enormous snowfall totals nearing 3 feet, with more still to come this weekend (January 4-5, 2025)!
