Say It Ain’t Snow: Wet Snow Forecast For Parts of Upstate New York This Week
We live in Upstate New York. We get it, this kind of thing happens. A little wet snow in May.
But we don't have to be happy about!
Now, full disclosure: We're not talking about a mountain of snow in the forecast. But just talking about snow during May when SPRING is in full swing makes it SEEM like a mountain of snow.
For most of us in the greater Capital Region, your News Channel 13 First Warning Forecast says we can expect steady rain Thursday into Friday, which is to be expected in May. The surprising part is the chilly temps: highs will only reach the high 40s on Thursday and mid-50s on Friday. Now you know where this is going...
National Weather Service Forecast Calls For Wet Snow At Higher Elevations
With all that moisture and cooler temps, the National Weather Service says we can expect a chance of "light accumulations" of wet snow "for elevations above 2000 feet in the southern Adirondacks and southern Greens Thursday into Friday."
As far as snow goes, in the middle of winter, this would not even be a blip on our weather radar!
But going into Memorial Day Weekend, when we have sun, our great local lakes, and summer concerts on the brain, snow is the last thing we want to think about.
Will It Warm Up For Memorial Day Weekend?
The bad news is that the chilly weather will linger on Saturday. News Channel 13 says highs will be in the mid-50s Saturday with isolated showers, and temperatures should start to rise to the upper 60s Sunday. Monday is looking like the weather pick of the weekend with sun mixing with clouds and a high near 70.
