NASA: Asteroid the Size of Stadium Headed Toward Earth
Pandemics, Tiger King, murder hornets, and now this. Brace yourself for the giant sized meteor reportedly heading toward mother Earth. According to NASA, it's literally the size of a NFL stadium.
Ever been to Met-Life or Yankee Stadium? They're basically the size of small cities.
In fact, I'm willing to go out on a limb here and say the asteroid headed in Earth's direction is roughly the size of the town of Green Island. If I'm wrong, I'm not off by much as Green Island is 0.7 square miles, making it the smallest town in the state of New York. If this isn't the most "2020 thing" of 2020, I don't know what is.
It's important to keep things in perspective because the reality is, it's not really that close to hitting Earth. But then again, it is 2020 and would you really be surprised if all of sudden, watching this sucker was like your tracking your Uber driver, inching closer and closer till it's at your doorstep?
According to News 10 ABC, NASA is closely monitoring the asteroid which has been named 2002 NN4. NASA says that on Saturday June 6th, NN4 will be as close to Earth as it may ever get, still some 3 million miles away according to News 10 ABC.
I don't want to push the panic button, and there certainly isn't any real reason for concern but I couldn't help but say out loud, "Oh for f***s sake" when I saw this story earlier today.
And since it is 2020, I thought that you'd just want to know.
