My Tummy Loved the Schohaire Sunshine Fair [Photos]
If I could eat all of the fair food, I would.
Every. Single. Thing.
That's why I went to the Schohairie Sunshine Fair in Cobleskill on Friday.
Earlier in the week, I posted on the GNA Facebook page and asked what fair foods I NEEDED to shove in my face knowing I would be going to one by the weeks end. I got some responses I expected like fried dough. But, since I make that at home I wanted to get the stuff I wouldn't make myself.
Suggestions of fried pickles, smoked mac-n-cheese, deep fried peanut butter and jelly sandwich...I couldn't wait to get to Friday!
It's pretty overwhelming when you first walk into the fair. I mean, there's food EVERYWHERE.
I made sure to scout the area a bit. I didn't want to just jump on the first thing I saw. What I did know was that I needed something "normal" first. I made the choice to not eat much leading up to the fair, including a normal meal. First up: cheese burger.
I wanted to "fair" it up a little, so instead of the typical burger and fries, I got mozz sticks.
I'll admit, I was looking for the deep fried pb&j with no luck, but what I found was delightful.
There's funnel cake and then there's "gourmet" funnel cake.
I made sure to pick the one that screamed my name and with my love of s'mores it was really a no brainer.
I wish my stomach was bigger. I mean, okay, let me rephrase that...I wish I could fit more in it but stay the size that I am. Especially when the fair is involved because by the time I got to this point, I knew I had to choose wisely.
Obviously, the next step needs to be something deep fried that typically isn't deep fried. Which path do I go? Twinkie? Pickles? Reese Peanut Butter Cups? I haven't had anything unconventionally deep fried before, so I went with the safe choice: Oreos.
All of it was so good. If I get to another fair before the seasons end, deep fried twinkies are next on my hit list.
What's your favorite fair food?
