‘Adirondac’ Engulfed in Massive Fire
A dramatic scene unfolded on the Lake George waterfront this morning as the Adirondac, a well-known 400-passenger tour boat, went up in flames while docked.
The ship, part of the Lake George Waterfront Cruises fleet, has been offering sightseeing cruises, dinner sails, and private events since 2004.
Its classic turn-of-the-century design and multi-deck layout made it one of the most recognizable vessels on the lake, which makes today’s images even more stunning. Most recently, the Adirondac was being used for their very popular "Santa Cruise."
In photos and videos we've obtained, you can see the Adirondac fully engulfed, with fire tearing through the upper decks and heavy black smoke rising over the village. Snow covers the docks and shoreline as bright orange flames reflect off the water, a striking and heartbreaking scene for anyone familiar with summers on Lake George.
At this time, no details have been released regarding:
- Whether anyone was on board
- The cause of the fire
- The extent of the damage
Emergency crews are on scene, and we’ll update as soon as officials release more.
For many, the Adirondac isn’t just a boat. It’s the backdrop of summer memories: fireworks cruises, weddings, sightseeing trips with visiting family, and those perfect Lake George sunset rides.
To see it burning like this is absolutely jarring.
Updates coming soon.
