GameStop Closing Hundreds Of Stores

It looks as if the latest store that will be affected by online shopping is GameStop. The retailer says that they will be closing nearly two hundred stores by the end of the year. According to WGRZ, in an effort to increase revenue and profits, GameStop will be closing up to two hundred of their stores. They operate nearly fifty-seven hundred stores in fourteen countries. They have been losing money to online and mobile shoppers.

GameStop had to close one hundred ninety-five stores last year. They say, in order to keep up and to continue to be profitable, they must close more stores. They have not said which stores would be closing its doors.

There are fifteen GameStop locations in and around the Capital Region. The company hasn't given any indication of whether our GameStops will be the ones on the chopping block. We are hoping that none of our GameStops will be affected.
