Incident Number One

The Albany Police say the first incident occurred in the early morning of Monday, May 12th.

That's when, according to the press release, officers responded to Townsend Park Apartments on Central Avenue in Albany with reports "that someone was trespassing."

As Briggs was approached by law enforcement, Albany Police say he "became combative and refused to comply with lawful commands."

When they attempted to detain him, he began to fight, even "restricting one officer’s breathing by placing his arm around the officer’s neck and punching another officer in the face, causing injury to the officer’s nose."

Briggs was ultimately taken into custody and then released.

A Second Incident Happened 12 Hours Later

Later that day, roughly 12 hours later, police officers responded to the same address for reports of a person with a weapon.

According to the report, when they arrived, they learned that Briggs had made threats to another man, showed a handgun, and demanded his property before fleeing on foot.

Albany Police say that after a brief foot pursuit, he was taken into custody, where a loaded handgun was recovered from his possession.  No injuries were reported during this incident.
