Adventure Course, Zip Line Opening at West Mountain
One of the great things about Upstate New York is all of the seasons and a lot of our more popular attractions have to keep up with all weather conditions and the next to make changes is West Mountain.
West Mountain to me means winter. I spent a lot of my childhood tubing and skiing there and I'm happy to see that when West Mountain Ski Center opens for the next winter season, skiers and snowboarders will be using "a new $900,000 four-passenger lift" since last one was updated in 1968.
By next summer though, they're offering an entirely different experience. Their goal is to make West Mountain a 4-season operation, adding a "treetop aerial adventure course" and a "10,000-foot, nine-platform zip line canopy tour."
Those involved came to the conclusion that West Mountain needed to be a year round experience and thought they were missing out on opportunities. The aerial course will be somewhat similar to what you find at Adirondack Extreme. The zipline, though, is not like its counterpart in Lake George, though. The Post Star describes it as that it "will zigzag visitors through the trees down the mountain from the main summit to the Northwest side and back, landing on nine platforms along the way"
