Winter Weather Advisory Issued For All Of New York State: Here’s What To Expect
A mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain will traverse the Empire State on Wednesday night and Thursday.
I would take a foot or 2 of fresh snow over the tiniest amount of messy, wintry precipitation any day of the week. It's hard to clean up and creates very slick and unpredictable driving conditions. That is just what most New Yorkers will have to deal with tonight and tomorrow.
National Weather Service issues Winter Weather Advisory
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather advisory across the state of New York from Wednesday into Thursday.
Mixed precipitation of snow, sleet, and freezing rain will start early afternoon in western New York and then spread to the Capital Region and eastern New York by Wednesday evening.
The National Weather Service says most areas are expected to see an inch or less of accumulation with a light glaze of ice. Snowfall estimates of a few inches are possible at higher elevations in the Catskills and Adirondacks. The NWS says 5 to 12 inches of snow is likely north of the Interstate 90 corridor in Central New York.
This storm will cause slippery conditions and you should use caution when driving and walking.
NWS says this storm is a warm-up for our next round of winter weather heading our way this weekend, which could ring more snow and wintry mix Saturday into Sunday.
