I happened to see a few of these very small semicolon tattoos on people recently, and couldn't figure out what the heck I was looking at.  So, like everyone else in America who feels clueless about something, I did the Google thing

This little symbol is just that - a symbol for something very serious.  It's part of Project Semicolon.  It was started by Amy Bleuel who's father committed suicide.

So here's the connection.  Why do you use a semicolon when you are writing something?  Well, let's think about it.

A semicolon is used when an author could've chosen to end their sentence, but chose not to. The author is you and the sentence is your life.

Here is a promotional video for the project

It's a pretty nice reminder and motivator for people who are suffering or for someone in your family who has been through it.

I'm also including a suicide hotline number here as a public service.
