I don't smoke but I always preferred it when my friends would utilize their e-cigarettes instead of smoking actual cigarettes. It smells better for me and some places let them do it inside so I didn't have to stand with my friend in the cold but I'm not the New York State government.

Many areas in New York State already have the ban in place, like New York City, but within 30 days, vaping will now be treated the same as smoking regular cigarettes, according to the BBC.

The New York Times has reported that 70% of the state has outlawed the use of e-cigarettes indoors in public locations but this law will make it statewide. Gov. Andrew Cuomo explained the reasoning behind it saying "These products are marketed as a healthier alternative to cigarettes but the reality is they also carry long-term risks to the health of users and those around them."

For the longest time, e-cigarettes were a part of this weird loophole and not completely regulated but Gov. Cuomo said he's happy to close it and hope this leads to our state being healthier overall.
