Upstate New York Teen Arrested After Terrorist Threat to School
Threats to Capital Region Schools
A 15-year-old boy from Saratoga County was arrested. Let it be known that law enforcement doesn't play around with these kinds of threats to schools or any place.
After a slew of shooting threats were made to the Bethlehem Central School District, parents, students, teachers, administrators, and law enforcement were relieved to learn that the threats carried minimal merit. And thanks to local law enforcement's work, the district is slowly returning to normal.
Despite the relief, most would agree that it's been a stressful few weeks for Upstate New York schools. Another threat was made to a Capital Region school; this time, law enforcement found the minor responsible, and an arrest was made.
Police Make Arrest in Upstate New York
According to the New York State Police, on September 22, 2024, NYSP, with the assistance of the Albany FBI, arrested a 15-year-old from Clifton Park, NY, for making a terroristic threat, criminal impersonation in the second degree, and making a threat of mass harm.
What Happened?
NYSP says that on September 21st at about 7:00 p.m., they got information about a "threat of mass harm was made via a social media outlet directed towards Queensbury High School in Queensbury, NY."
The investigation determined that it came from a 15-year-old who allegedly hacked into someone's social media account and published the threat. Police say he does not attend Queensbury High School, and there is no further threat to the community.
The boy, who is from Clifton Park, was arrested Sunday evening. He is charged with making a terroristic threat and is due in Saratoga County Family Court.
