150,000 Historic Books Go On Sale As Old Albany College Cleans House
Literature is arguably the greatest thing humans have ever invented. We have a way to tell stories, spread information, or just get our ideas down, and it's been happening since before we recorded time.

Saint Rose Library is Done
In 2024, the College of Saint Rose in Albany closed its doors. Between declining enrollment and massive financial troubles, there was no way for the college to keep operating. It's stayed as almost a ghost, not quite here, not quite gone.
Their library, however, is still standing in its former glory, and that's an issue. Over 150,000 books, DVDs, sheet music, and more have been lying dormant for almost two years. This includes several bibles that date all the way back to the 17th Century. These aren't just books, they're historical relics. So what happens now?
How Do You Get Rid of a Library?
Okay so, obviously the College of Saint Rose has no use for all that anymore, so what now? Well, the college recently put the library up for sale! Let me clarify, they didn't put every individual book up for sale, they're selling the whole collection.
It will likely be picked up by a government or historical agency, many of the Facebook comments suggest the New York State Museum, but they'll have to bid to get it. The offers are available on BidNet Direct, which allows government agencies to auction off collections of this size. Where it will end up? It's anyone's guess right now, but I'd love to throw a bid in.
