Zach Bryan Releases Video Shot in Schenectady
Country star Zach Bryan released a teaser over the weekend for the new music video of "Oak Island," we must say, it looked pretty awesome, and we were excited to see the finished product.
While Bryan wasn't in Schenectady last month when they shot the footage, acclaimed Hollywood actor Casey Affleck (Ben's brother) starred in it. We're happy to announce that the official video was released on Tuesday, and the Electric City is proudly displayed.
What We Know About the Video
GNA learned that Zach and his girlfriend, Brianna LaPaglia, wrote the video's screenplay, which is pretty action-packed and dramatic. It has a Place Beyond the Pines (also shot in Schenectady) feel, which isn't surprising considering that GNA learned from sources that Zach is a fan of the movie and had grown fond of Schenectady over the years.
Fans of Bryan have theorized about the song's subject, and most people who have analyzed the lyrics say it's about a guy in serious trouble because of bad life choices and a brother who either tries to save him or gets revenge.
What Does the Video Mean to the City of Schenectady
GNA spoke to a woman named Lovey, who works at Mike's Hot Dogs in Schenectady, one of the locations for the video shoot. She told us that the staff was looking forward to seeing the finished product, and so were customers who continue to visit the legendary restaurant, known for its famous mini-hot dogs.
"People come in, they ask about it (and) I tell them where Casey Affleck sat," Lovey told GNA. As for whether or not she's in the video for Oak Island, Lovey tells us that her back was to Affleck at the counter and that her rear end made it into the video.
It's hard to tell how many local landmarks the film crew used while making the video, but we know of at least two other spots besides Mike's Hot Dogs. One was Schenectady Steel, and the other, The Saw Mill Tavern, located at 501 South Ave, is recognizable.
