Safety Measures For Spectator-Free Racetrack

It's still hard to believe that the Saratoga Race Course opens this week and there will be no spectators allowed. We all understand why, but it definitely will be weird. NYRA is implementing safety plans to make sure that those who try and come to hang out are deterred from doing so. The New York Racing Association (NYRA) is making sure that those who love the Saratoga Race Course can still enjoy it safely from a distance. There will be no spectators allowed, for now, at the track.

According to News 10 ABC, the safety plans are in place so that people don't gather in and around the grounds of the Saratoga Race Course during the meet. There were some rumblings on social media that fans were planning to gather outside of the track. Now there will be officers assigned outside of and near the racecourse.

The officers will ensure that Union Avenue and the side of Nelson Avenue are free of spectators showing up to catch a glimpse. They are also deterring fans that show up with chairs and coolers that may hinder traffic flow. They have also lined some of the fences with blockers so fans can't see the track.

All staff and personnel in and around the track will be required to wear masks and social distance. They will also be tested frequently. This will be the 152nd Saratoga Race Course meet and the first one without fans.
