Popular Capital Region Staple Ted’s Fish Fry Adding 7th Location
Ted's Fish Fry has been a beloved staple in the Capital Region since 1949 when founder Ted Deeb opened the first shop in Watervliet.
Over the years, this family-run business has expanded to multiple locations, serving up its signature fish fry and a variety of other tasty options. They will soon open their 7th restaurant.
As of February 2025, Ted's has six locations: Watervliet, Troy, Latham, Albany (Wolf Road and Western Avenue), and Clifton Park. Each spot offers the classic fish fry, a crispy piece of cod served on a hot dog bun, and other favorites like cheeseburgers, mini hotdogs, fried clams, and shrimp.
In October 2022, Ted's closed its Lansingburgh location after 60 years, citing declining sales and other factors.
However, the family is excited to announce a new venture: renovations began in January 2025 to transform a former Pizza Hut on Route 50 in Ballston Spa into their latest eatery. This seventh location is slated to open in late spring or early summer, bringing another Ted's Fish Fry to Saratoga County according to the Albany Business Review.
The Deeb family remains hands-on, with third-generation co-owner Bill Deeb emphasizing the importance of quality and tradition. Despite challenges like fluctuating fish prices and changing consumer habits, Ted's continues to thrive by focusing on customer satisfaction and community engagement.
