Christmas... With a Side of Beer

When it comes to Christmas trees, everyone has their favorites. Some people prefer traditional ornaments, colorful lights, and a little tinsel. But in Upstate New York, things are a little different.

One area, in particular, decorates its Christmas trees with a side of beer!

The famous Keg Tree at the Genesee Brew House in Rochester has once again been nominated for a national honor, this time in USA Today's Readers' Choice Awards for the best holiday tree display in America.

A Holiday Tradition Unlike Any Other

The massive display features more than 500 beer kegs stacked into the shape of a Christmas tree, decorated with thousands of colorful lights.

Located near the Genesee River, the Keg Tree has become a beloved Rochester holiday tradition since its debut in 2014, drawing thousands of visitors each year.

It's festive, uniquely Upstate, and proof that sometimes the best holiday decorations come after having, well, a few beers.

Help Upstate New York

The Keg Tree is competing against impressive holiday tree displays from across the country, and it could use some hometown support.

According to USA Today, you can vote once per day until Monday, November 30th, at 12 noon, and the winning displays will be announced on Thursday, December 3rd.

The official lighting of the Genesee Keg Tree in Rochester is on December 4th.
