Starting this week, Sergio’s announced that families can stop by their Malta location every Monday and Thursday to get a free personal pizza for each child under 18. Dine in or take out, and the best part: no questions, no proof, no judgment.

"We Wish We Could Do More"

“We love this community and want to support the families who make Ballston Spa what it is,” the restaurant wrote. “We wish we could do more, but we hope this small gesture brings some comfort during a tough time,” the owners added.

Community Applauds Their Efforts

Their Facebook post has thousands of shares and interactions, and the community reaction has been overwhelming and emotional.

  • Boswell Jr.: “And just like that, any time I’m near, I’ll be eating at your establishment.”
  • Gabe Santos: “You guys just won a lifelong fan.”
  • Amanda Cox: “Thank you so much for giving me a little bit of faith in humanity in such a scary world.”
  • Devin Rowden, a local parent on SNAP: “As a family that gets SNAP… you don’t know what you’re going to do, but luckily I’ve got a full freezer and fridge — and I know some don’t. This will definitely help. Thank you from my whole heart.”

Others from as far away as Albany and Troy say they’ll make the trip to show support. One commenter even asked if they could “sponsor a few SNAP Pies” to help Sergio's Pizza feed more families.

This initiative, called the “SNAP Pie,” is available only at their Malta location at 4 Kelch Drive, Ballston Spa.

In a time when so many are struggling, this small-town pizzeria just reminded everyone what community looks like: a hot, fresh slice of compassion, right when it’s needed most.
