You Can Only See The Full Version Of “The Odyssey” At Two NY Theaters

Only in 70mm

The Odyssey is the first film ever to be entirely shot on IMAX 70mm cameras. This means that the film will be shown in the highest possible quality for the entirety of its 2 hour and 53 minute runtime.

Unlike a standard IMAX theater which shows its films in 1:90:1 (like the one at Regal Crossgates), IMAX 70mm is shown in 1:43:1, meaning it will engulf the entire screen for the entire runtime. Most IMAX films that have 70mm can only accommodate a few shots, meaning the aspect ratio will have to move at certain points. The Odyssey, however, will stay at that ratio the entire movie.

70mm Theaters in New York

Unfortunately, there are only 41 "true" IMAX 70mm theaters in the world. Luckily for us, two are in New York.

New York City is home to the Lincoln Square AMC, while Rochester has the Cinemark Tinseltown Rochester. Both of these locations are the only place to see The Odyssey in its true, 70mm projection.
