If you have ever traveled up to the Adirondacks on the Northway, you know that there are few rest areas to stop at. Well now a brand new welcome center has opened and it's not only for people, it's for pets too. The Northway has few rest areas, if any. I usually have to stop off an exit to use a rest room while heading to Plattsburgh. If you are like me, it can be frustrating. Well now a brand new two million dollar project has been completed and the Northway now has a new state-of-the-art welcome center.

According to Spectrum News, a new energy efficient building features a Taste of New York snack bar, vending machines with North Country products, digital information for tourists and restrooms. It is located on the northbound side of the Northway between exits 17 and 18.

There are also facilities for the kids and pets. The Adirondack Welcome Center is an 8,600 square foot building and with twenty two acre lot it has a new playground for kids and an area for dogs as well.
