3 New York Players Win $1M as Massive Powerball Jackpot Grows
If you checked your Powerball ticket this morning and shook your head, you’re not alone.
There were no jackpot winners in last night’s Powerball drawing, which means the next drawing could climb past a jaw-dropping $1.5 BILLION, making it one of the biggest prizes in lottery history.
But while nobody hit the big one across the 45 states that participate in the massive lotto, three New Yorkers still woke up as millionaires.
New York Winners
According to the New York Lottery, three tickets sold in New York matched five white balls, earning $1 million each. One of those winning tickets was sold in Newburgh, making it a pretty good morning in the Hudson Valley.
The winning numbers from last evening's drawing were:
25, 33, 53, 62, 66, and the Powerball was 17.
The estimated cash value of the next jackpot is projected to be well over $600 million if someone chooses the lump sum.
How Powerball Works
Powerball tickets cost $2 per play and are available at authorized lottery retailers. To play:
- Pick five numbers from 1–69
- Pick one Powerball number from 1–26
- Or let the computer choose with a Quick Pick
- There are nine different ways to win, and the odds of winning any prize are about 1 in 24.87, which explains why so many people keep taking a shot.
- What are the odds of winning the jackpot? A mere 1 in 292,201,338
The Next Drawing is Saturday
No jackpot winner means the dream stays alive, and with New Yorkers already cashing in for seven figures, including one right in Newburgh, and the next drawing (on Saturday) night is shaping up to be one of the biggest in lotto history.
