New York's Favorite Wine

In honor of National Wine Day on May 18th, JoyBird recently conducted a survey to find out what every state's favorite wine is. Now, this isn't exactly going by brand, but by classification.

According to this study, the favorite wine in the state of New York is Riesling, a dry, semi-sweet beverage made from white, Riesling grapes. The wine is unique in that it's flavor is based on the regionality of the grapes used, so certain bottles may have apple-tones while others may lean towards peach or citrus.

America's Best Wine is Found in New York

Okay, that may be an exaggeration, but it still rings true. In 2025, Wine Enthusiast named the Finger Lakes region of the state as the "American Wine Region of the Year", due to their variety and quality of vineyards.

These nineyards, to no one's surprise, focus heavily on Riesling, but chardonnay, pinot noir, cabernet franc, and sparkling wines come out of the region in bulk.

So no matter what your taste is, New York has something for you. Whether it's a chilled glass of Prosecco or a glass of Cab after a dinner, there's no better state to enjoy responsibly than New York.
