That growth shows no signs of stopping, and some are worried about the negative impacts it could bring to workers. In order to quell those fears, New York is devising a solution.
New York FutureWorks Commission
Recently, The New York State Government founded The FutureWorks Commission. This is a one-of-a-kind agency that exclusively looks at the impact Artificial Intelligence could have on New Yorkers.
One of the major pieces of this agency is the RAISE (Responsible AI Safety and Education) Act, which intends to build up AI safety regulations to ensure the technology doesn't get out of control. The act also places are moratorium on new hyperscale data centers across the state.

New Policies are Incoming
On September 29th, Governor Kathy Hochul met with the FutureWorks Commission to discuss new policies on A.I. in the workforce. This is a major issue for many voters in New York who feel like the technology is pushing them out of their jobs.
To counteract that, the Commission met with Union leaders, stakeholders, experts in the field, and workers who have been negatively impacted by A.I. over the past few weeks to understand their viewpoint on the growth of the technology.
The commission will take what it learned from these meetings, and set a list of recommendations by the end of December 2026 that will outline the new safety policies.
